Life Church Knoxville launched in September of 2013. In 2012 a group of leaders from Bethesda Christian Fellowship, which was founded in 1964 by Paul and Jean Cowell, called Phil and Melanie Nordstrom to become their pastors. The group had been without a pastor for over a year after their beloved pastor, Morris Bagwell, died following a long illness. The Nordstroms had previously pastored Christ Community Church in Murphysboro, IL. After much prayer, they felt directed to move their family to Knoxville in order to build a life-giving congregation. The original group was small but ready for a fresh start so they, along with our Pastors Phil and Melanie, decided to rebrand, rename, and relaunch the church as Life Church. Today the church is vibrant, growing and poised for a dynamic future.
